It is amazing to see the amount of interest in the Moonlight Tango Winter Festival 2023. Most of the events are already full and a lot of dancers still want to join the party. It is going to be an amazing experience for dancers at any level of their tango journey as you will be able to listen to Tango Bardo playing live, learn from top maestros, dance with all the dancers coming from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Argentina, USA and Italy, and experience the beauty of Brisbane this July.
Although the Gala Milongas (28/07 - 30/07) and some of the workshops are sold out you can still take full advantage of this 8-day long festival and this is one of the options we suggest:
Start your week on Sunday 23rd by taking
Workshops with the Tango World Champions Cynthia and Sebastian coming directly from Buenos Aires (workshops at EC Venue from 10am to 13:30) then have a light lunch in Fortitude Valley before taking a short trip the the beautiful campus of the University of Queensland (UQ) in Saint Lucia (20 min driving from EC Venue).
At UQ you can take part in the Tango Bardo concert with performance by Cynthia and Sebastian which will run from 15:00 to 17:00 (Engineering Building 49 at UQ).
After that if you still want to add to your tango knowledge stay for the Tango DJ forum by Nadim Saway and Jose Arganaras (same venue).
How much is all of this? Workshops 3 hours: $130 + Concert with performance 2 hours: $70 + Tango DJ Forum 1 hour: $35 = Total: $235 (6 hours of top tango entertainment for less than $40/h)
On Monday 24th
On Tuesday 25th
Dine at C'est Bon Restaurant and then
Take Nadim & Rina workshops (EC Venue 18:30 to 21:30 for a total of $150 or $37/h incl. Wednesday's workshop)
On Wednesday 26th
Take Nadim & Rina workshop (17:30-18:30) before you start the
Asado Milonga where DJ Nadim will take you dancing for hours while you try some of the best Argentine food in Australia (dinner + milonga = $95).
Finally come enjoy the Prosecco Reception at the Institute of Modern Art where you can meet all dancers, maestros and musicians for a night of tango community fun on Thursday 27th from 20:30 ($30).
To conclude, you can still enjoy all the beauty of this festival even if the Gala Milongas are sold out ;-) We have curated such a "long" festival to give the entire community a chance to join.
If you were to follow the schedule highlighted, you would be learning tango from top maestros for 11 hours, dancing milonga for 4 hours, eating in the best Argentine restaurant in Brisbane, listening to Tango Bardo play live tango music, and sharing prosecco with your fellow dancers during a wonderful 4-day trip to Brisbane all for $640 (or $35/ hour for almost 20 hours of tango entertainment over 4 days!).
