About the Teacher
Richard Frisart is a tango DJ and organizer, living in Haarlem, The Netherlands. He discovered tango in the 1980s when Astor Piazzolla gave his concerts in Holland and rose to fame. He has also DJ’ed in Belgium, Denmark, Austria, France, and at various milongas in Buenos Aires. His style is energetic and varied, with a firm base in the golden decades. His tandas are well thought out. Consistent, but never boring. A bit edgy on purpose sometimes. His main goal as a DJ: get the dancers on the floor and make them happy. Next to DJ’ing at the milongas, Richard has a YouTube channel as well (Tango Music Tutorials), sharing his knowledge and love for tango music.

Online Masterclass
Is this an Online Course?
Not at all! The teachers will be streaming live from Europe and Argentina just for us, the audience in the beautiful School of Music auditorium (Nickson Room) at the University of Queensland and at our beloved C'est Bon. You will not be able to see any of these courses on the computer or on YouTube. These Masterclasses have been tailored for us and are part of an entire curriculum worth exploring as a whole.
How do we know it will work?
We have chosen your teachers not only because they are great at teaching tango and musicality but also because they are experienced at delivering their classes using a range of media and technologies.
We have also run several trials to test the delivery of the courses via Zoom and YouTube. We will be using the latest technology on both ends, with high resolution digital cameras, several microphones, large projector screens and hi-fi sound system. We will also have several back ups to ensure it all works smoothly.
Will the Audience be able to interact with the Teachers?
Absolutely! Each teacher will have slightly different approach to interacting with you, and it will also depend on the topic (certain Masterclasses are more targeted to audience interaction), but each one of them will answer your questions, ask you questions, potentially give you exercises to do during the masterclass and check that you are doing it correctly.
Will the audience be dancing?
Some of the masterclasses call for dancing exercises and the locations we have chosen both have a dancing space (wooden floors).
Do I need a partner?
There is partner work and exercises involved (especially in Masterclass 1 to 4), it will be easier if you secure a partner but it is NOT needed. Send us a message if you are looking ;-) and we will help as we can.
Where can I find some examples of what the Teachers are like?
All over the world! If you want a sense of what they can do online check some of the videos (left). Remember the Moonlight Tango Masterclass Series has been developed as a coherent set of workshops to cover a wide but specifically tailored curriculum on Musicality from the perspective of dancers, teachers, DJ and musicians (i.e. it's not just a YouTube video). More importantly, you will be able to interact with the Teachers and carry on live exercises with their supervision.
Ready to practice your tango and newly acquired Musicality skills on the dance floor?
Our signature C'est Bon Milonga will be held on Sunday 31st of October. We will play a mix of tunes focusing more on famous classics and modern tango bands. Masterclasses will be held at C'est Bon Bistro through the day on Sunday and Head Chef Andy Ashby will be preparing a tango inspired menu for dinner. The Head Sommelier Charles-William Gossart will be ready with the wine degustation you so much love. Stay tuned for more details on the menu options. Tickets for the Milonga, dining and wine tasting will be sold separately from Masterclass. Remember that the venue has limited capacity and the Milonga tends to be sold out very quickly!
We will be posting more details about the music on our Blog.
Q&A Session
Have you ever dreamed about having a conversation wit your favourite international dancers and teachers?
At the end this weekend of masterclasses we have organised a special Q&A session. During this 1.5h session, you will be able to directly ask your teachers questions about the musicality masterclasses that you have experienced. The teachers will also take this opportunity to discuss how the topics they covered are intertwined and contribute to the narrative of the curriculum.
What are the new trends in Tango orquesta music around the world?
